NBA Pet Peeves...

So I have been having some issues with professional players recently, especially in regards to the NBA. I was discussing with a friend a few months ago and He told me the biggest reason he hated the NBA was because he said "Its just full of gangsters. They may play basketball well but Id rather not watch a bunch of thugs get together and make thousands of dollars in front of my eyes." I couldnt help but disagree! There have been some amazing people in the NBA and I didnt think it was full of gangsters. Yeah so theres the occasional player like Ron Artest who just wants to throw punches, or Rasheed Wallace, or even Paul Pierce. But ya love some and you hate some. Thats what I always thought. Now this year Ive started to notice how much of my friends statement could be right. Maybe its in the air but players seem to be getting more cocky, less team oriented, and all about the ring. Sometimes I wonder if their fame and glory takes over their common sense, or I just wonder if theyve ever had any at all. I have always loved watching the NBA! But as Ive seen the actions of some players, especially in recent news with Lebron James, (who I believed was a good strong player) it makes me disgusted! He was the one that got me on my soapbox.

LINK TO ARTICLE "LEBRON GETS DUNKED ON" http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/blog/the_dagger/post/LeBron-gets-dunked-on-by-Xavier-player-confisca?urn=ncaab,175293&cp=87#comments

First he gets all upset after losing to the Magic and thinks he's too good to shake hands. Great Role Model there. Then, he decides to broadcast his insecurities by wearing t-shirts that try to make him feel better. Imagine if Kobe Bryant had had one of those t-shirts on, everyone would be in uproar...

So today read an article about Lebron getting dunked on by an Xavier player... yeah so an NCAA puny Ball player gets by you and dunks it in your face. It stings and you're going to get made fun of for a couple days but it blows away and is forgotten. Any normal good player would have just shrugged their shoulders, let the kid have some short lived fame, and waited for the redness to fade from their face. But no, of course Lebron has to throw a tantrum and confiscate the tapes of him getting dunked on. This is like when a book gets banned, it becomes the most popular read. By him confiscating the tapes, he's just shooting himself in the foot. He cant take that his image might be damaged a smidgen from a 5 second clip of being dunked on. It happens and he should get over it. The best part is the story is going to grow way out of proportion and there's no video evidence to prove it wrong! lol. I couldn't help but think, what a primadonna! This kid probably had the best day of his life and Lebron can't handle it.

Since he has yet to make a t-shirt with this on it, Ill kindly post this for him...

2009 NBA Most Valuable Player
2007 NBA Eastern Conference Champion with the Cavaliers
2006 & 2008 NBA All-Star Game MVP
5-time NBA All-Star (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009)
5-time All-NBA (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009)
1-time NBA All-Defensive (2009)

AND ZERO RINGS!!!

Im sort of half expecting him to find this post and somehow get the rights to delete it... lol. But yes. It just makes me sad how many players today are so self orientated! My hope is that maybe one day the team spirit that lies within college ball could carry through to the NBA!
